Dealing with Wireless Drop-outs

Check you are using fresh alkaline or lithium batteries. If you are using rechargeable batteries use nickel metal

hydride - marked NiMH or NH - and check they are still holding their full charge.

Do you have more than one wireless system? If so, you can check the frequencies are not interfering with each

other on our frequency planning tool. Alternatively use one of the frequency plans found in your manual.

Make sure you are transmitting at least 3 metres away from the receiver as too much gain can cause problems

when using multiple systems. Also, keep the transmission distances of all transmitters similar in length.

Check for other RF signals on your frequency: Switch off your transmitter and watch the RF-meter on the

receiver. If there is an RF signal, change the channel to a non-occupied frequency.

Is the receiver in the best position? Place it so you get a clear line of sight to the transmitters. Keep it 1 metre

from the floor and 1 metre from any walls, as close reflections from walls can create drop-outs.

Place your antennas at different angles to each other. To provide the best diversity pick-up, place one 45

degrees to the left and one 45 degrees to the right.

Place your receiver at a slight angle from the wall, not straight on, with the antennas at slightly different

distances from the reflective surface.

Check the squelch is set correctly on the receiver. Turn off any wireless transmitters and turn down the PA. Set

the squelch to minimum (anti-clockwise). If the system is picking up any RF interference slowly, turn the

squelch clockwise until it stops picking up any RF signal. This setting will give you the maximum range of the

wireless system.

Are the antennas remote mounted? Make sure the cable is 50 ohms. If the cable run is longer than 4 metres

use RG8 quality cable. Long cable runs will loss RF signal so use as short a cable as possible. To help long

cable runs use ATW-B80 antenna boosters.

If a transmitter is dropped multiple times, it may need recalibrating back to the factory setting, which will require
